Click on the route within the map to reveal a brief description - there's a link back to relevant 'Route description' page. Alternatively, once you've decided on a route you'd like to navigate, go to 'Route Downloads', choose relevant route from drop down menu and download GPX and directions files.

We recommend you download the OS App (or similar).
If you input the grid reference into the search field (provided in ride direction files) eg 'SP123456' it will take you directly to that point on the map. Premium costs £24 a year but you can see all rights of way on the premium topography map. The GPX file can also be downloaded directly into this App, so you're able to navigate the route from your phone.

Most of these were originally illustrated in a book produced by the British Horse Society in conjunction with Northamptonshire County Council and other 3rd parties in 1995, entitled 'Northamptonshire on Horseback' recording 23 circular routes in the county. We're gradually adding routes that are still feasible. If you are familiar with any of the routes and notice any discrepancies in the instructions or know of any issues, please let us know. Happy to receive up-to-date photos or suggested amendments etc. If you know of any other good routes please share on the FB Group page and we can also add some to the google maps page in due course. This is WORK IN PROGRESS.

These rides still appear feasible checked against the definitive map. Potential parking or drop-off places have been checked, either directly or by riders familiar with the routes. We recommend everyone checks out parking and any road sections relevant etc, prior to riding the routes. There may be roadworks etc that may limit access from time to time, or the site may not be suitable for you personally.
